St. Lawrence Barristers is committed to developing law students into high-quality litigators. We typically hire one to two 1L summer students each year. Given that we intend to bring our 1L students back the following summer, we do not typically recruit 2L students or articling students.

As a boutique law firm, we treat students as core members of the team and include them in everything we do. From day one, you can expect to be involved in all aspects of the litigation process, including client meetings, drafting documents, preparing for discoveries, motions, mediations, trials, and even appeals.

Competitive applications will be from well-rounded law students with high academic standing, excellent writing skills, and a demonstrated interest in our practice areas. We expect applicants to demonstrate their intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, professionalism, and resilience.

Our usual practice is to host all first interviews online. Further, we do not host cocktail parties or take applicants out for meals during in-firm recruitment.

We provide successful students with a competitive salary and supportive and challenging work environment that is pet and child friendly.

Successful students must make arrangements to be in Toronto from early May to mid-August. Given our hands-on mentorship model, students are expected to work full time in our Toronto office for the duration of their summer and articling contracts.
