Phil Tunley was pleased to present at the 2019 Annual Conference of the Law Union of Ontario on “National Security: the Impact on Rights”. With a distinguished panel including criminal barrister, Anil Kapoor, and CCLA Director of Privacy, Technology & Surveillance, Brenda McPhail, Phil spoke on the law and best practices related to three topics: (1) damages for Charter breaches; (2) discovery challenges with CSIS and other national security witnesses; and (3) closed material proceedings. Discussion was moderated by panel chair, Jack Gemmell.
